Thailand King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s new wife, Suthida Vajiralongkorn Na Ayutthaya, has arrived in Ontario, Canada, for what it’s seen to be ‘a medical emergency’.
The queen was met with an ambulance at the Ontario International Airport on the tarmac.
At least 12 officials from Thailand were seen at the VIP lounge awaiting immigration formalities, other travelers told the press.
Queen Suthida, who was named Thailand’s queen on May 1, just three before the King’s coronation, is rumoured to be in a critical condition and Thai local media is tight-lipped on the reports as laws forbid such publications on the Palace.
The Royal Gazette said the King has legally married Queen Suthida.
The ceremony was overseen by King Vajiralongkorn wearing a white uniform in Bangkok’s Dusit Palace, according to a broadcast of the announcement, which showed Queen Suthida in a traditional Thai silk dress.
In 2014, King Vajiralongkorn appointed Queen Suthida Tidjai, a former flight attendant for Thai Airways, as a deputy commander of his bodyguard unit.
Queen Suthida, 40, has long been rumoured to be romantically linked with King Vajiralongkorn since he was the crown prince, but their relationship was not made public.
The King made Suthida a full general in December 2016, and the deputy commander of the king’s personal guard in 2017. He also made her a Thanpuying, a royal title meaning Lady.
Queen Suthida is King Vajiralongkorn’s fourth wife. The king has five sons and two daughters from his previous marriages.
We will be bringing updates from the hospital to our readers as and when we receive them.
